While most folks consider Lake Tahoe a very scenic backdrop for activities like skiing, golf and gambling, it’s actually also very much a fish factory. We chase the big lake’s mackinaw in the summer months…but not with the downriggers or heavy wire lines often associated with this fishery.
Nope, we like to go the sporting route and spoon ‘em up on light bass rods. The trout typically run 3-6 pounds but double-digit fish are always lurking around and the potential for a salmon-sized laker is there (the lake record is nearly 40 pounds!). The fishing is great — and what can you say about the scenery? Watching the sun come up over the mountain tops here is a treat!
