Located in remote Southwest Alaska, the Togiak River is blessed with excellent runs of all five Pacific salmon species. It also harbors some outstanding trout, dolly and pike fishing. Even more exciting is the fact that many of the Togiak’s species run on the large side. Throw in some beautiful scenery and you have yourself one heck of a fishing destination!

The Lodge

Togiak River Lodge features comfortable guest cabins, a hot tub on the river’s edge, a sauna, satellite TV, WiFi Internet, daily room service and more!

Alaska King Salmon Fishing

King Salmon

Mid June-Late July

Kings are the stars of the show here. And why not? They grow ‘em, big on the Togiak and the fish often return in numbers that place it among the greatest Chinook fisheries on planet earth. The river pumps out a lot of 25- to 35-pound class kings and the chance for a 50 plus pounder is always there!

Silver Salmon

Mid August-Mid September

The Togiak has few peers as a king fishey – and yet it may be an even better place to fish for silver (coho) salmon! Silvers ascend the river is massive hordes in the late summer/early fall and can produce non-stop action for both fly and conventional anglers. We often hook 100+ fish a day per boat (2 anglers) here — and we often are able to catch them on topwater flies and plugs, which is an absolute blast!! Togiak silvers run 7 to 10 pounds on average but we get fish close to 20 pound every season.

Rainbow Trout

June-Sepember

The Togiak harbors some wonderfully large rainbows that can top the 30-inch mark. The largest we’ve seen is 16 pounds, but the average fish is in the 2- to 5-pound class and they are willing biters for fly and spin anglers alike.

Dolly Varden

June-September

The river gets a big run of dollies and the char here can get quite large: up to 6 or even 8 pounds. They show up fresh from the salt and chrome as can be and are a blast on a light spin rod or 7-weight fly rod!

Other Species

There are plenty of other species to pursue on the Togiak as well. We get robust runs of delicious sockeye salmon, hard-fighting chums and lots of fun pinks too. Our backwaters have pike as well and we also have halibut down in the bay.
