Steelies now, stripers next…

I’ve been fishing for steelhead lately and have a couple Smith River dates left: Feb. 25 & 26 so let me know ASAP if you’d like to go chase steelies in the redwoods!

In April, I’ll be fishing stripers on the Feather and Sacramento rivers so it’s time to get your dates for that as well!

And all summer, we will be running trips on Tahoe.

Back to the Sac Soon!

I’ve got about a week’s worth of Klamath fishing left before I come home and start salmon fishing on the Sacramento River.

Until then, I’m still getting nice bright (though small) Kings and some beautiful steelhead.

See you on the Sac soon!!

GREAT SALMON ACTION!

It’s been a really good week of salmon fishing with a fish a rod over the weekend to limits now. After seeing lots of smaller males the past couple weeks, we are finally seeing some bigger fish too.

I’m off to the Klamath/Trinity now and will be back late October for the Sac/American season.

If you’d like to get a seat on the boat, please contact Tamara at 916-952-1595. We have (I think) only one day left open in October, but good availability early Nov.

Good salmon bite!

The salmon bite definitely has improved as we are seeing better and better scores daily. Today’s group had full limits of nice silver bullets! Hopefully this trend continues! 😀

Feather Salmon Update

Well, it’s been mostly a grind the past few days to get fish but if you put in the time and fish well, you are going to catch some nice bright salmon, maybe a few steelies and even the occasional Striper.

The run is extremely late but we still have a lot of fish in the ocean so the action should just keep getting stronger by the day!

Feather & Sac SalmoN Update

I’m done with Alaska and Tahoe for the fall and am now back on Valley rivers until Thanksgiving. Salmon fishing is picking up…it had been really tough but is finally on the upswing!

The fish are nice and bright and Kings in the 20+ pound range are showing much more frequently than in recent seasons.

What’s also nice this season is we have a 2-fish limit again.

Back from Alaska (Again)

I just got back from my second guiding stint in Alaska this year. The silver fishing on the Togiak was outstanding and we caught plenty of other cool stuff too from rainbows to Dollies to pike.

Now, it’s time for Sacramento, Feather and American river kings though mid November!

Good Mack Bite, Salmon Next!

The mackinaw bite at Lake Tahoe has been solid lately and we have been getting them jigging with light tackle. The Kokanee are also biting but the size really hasn’t been there.

I’ll be here though Labor Day Weekend and then it’s off to salmon fishing on the Feather and Sacramento Rivers.

The inland salmon run is forecasted to be the best in close to 20 years so we are real glooming forward to getting in on a couple solid months of great action!

Central Valley Salmon Season is OPEN!

It is shaping up to be the best salmon run in 20 years on the Sacramento River system!

🐟🐟We are back to a 2-fish daily limit again too!

The fishing in the ocean has been very good all summer and the really exciting thing is the fish seem to be quite large!

I’ll start fishing as soon as I think it’s good enough to take clients...probably sometime in August. It’s gonna be a busy fall so please contact me early this season so I can get you on the calendar.

In the meantime< i’ll remain on Tahoe unit sometime in August.

Macks & Kokes biting at Tahoe!

The Weather and fishing at Lake Tahoe have both been very good of late. The mackinaw have been munching jigs fished on light gear and the koke bite is also really cranking up. Small pink spinners and squids behind flashers have been the ticket for the little salmon.

Late July and all of August is the best mack-kokanee combo time of year so come on up!

Off to Alaska!

I’m headed for my annual guiding stint on Alaska’s epic Togiak River, where king salmon fishing should be heating up any day now!

I return on July 1 and then will begin my new Tahoe guiding schedule, operating out of Tahoe Keys Marina all summer for mackinaw, kokanee, rainbows and browns.

Come September, I’ll be back on the Valley rivers chasing kings. And this year shaping up to be a barn burner! Great numbers of fish in the ocean combined with good water flows should spark some awesome action.

Combo Season is Here!

Sac Valley combo fishing trips are here! Fish for Shad, stripers and steelhead in one day!

I love late May/early June because it’s when I get a chance to run a limited number of Valley Combo trips in which we target as many species as possible. Yesterday it was stripers, Shad and steelhead. Good times! What will it be tomorrow?

I have a few open dates left for combos so get in touch if you’d like to get on board!

Late Rains Spark New Striper Bite!

We’ve had some funky weather lately — rain and wind but it has sparked a new push of fresh, blue backed stripers into the Valley.

The fishing has been very good and we have been in an area where there has been no traffic at all which has been really nice!

Stripers still going...Tahoe Mackinaw next up!

Though it’s mid-May, we’re still seeing some good Striper action in the Central Valley rivers. This time of year, things can change rapidly so where we are fishing is a day to day decision.

As the Striper season winds down, I’ll be making the transition to Lake Tahoe mackinaw and Konrad fishing in late May.

Stripers Bust Wide Open!

After several funky days of Striper fishing in the Valley and Delta, the fishing finally turned red hot this week. We have been seeing pretty much non-stop action lately on fish to 16 pounds. Yesterday, we hooked a much bigger one too.

I’m full until May 7-8 & 11.

Another solid week of stripers

The Delta has treated us very nicely this past week! We had lots of nice Topwater fish, along with plenty on Swimbaits. The wind was tough Thurs & Fri but the fish still bit. Saturday was nice but the bite was off. I’ll be moving upriver this week.

Very good Striper bite!

It’s been a loooooong winter but we finally got the Striper season kicked off this weekend in style! Fishing down in the big water of the Delta with Topwater plugs and Swimbaits, we saw nice action on fish to 14 pounds on Saturday and Sunday.

I’ll stick to the delta for a bit longer and then will switch to the Sac and Feather rivers as soon as that bite gets to where I’d like to see it.

The rest of April should be really, really good!

Hot Striper Fishing Coming Up

Yep, it’s been a long winter but all this rain and snow are going to make for high water conditions on Valley rivers like the Sacramento and Feather this spring.

Big water usually means epic striped bass fishing and I’m so ready!

Fishing will pick up as soon as the water clears and we should have outstanding light tackle action into May!

I have a limited schedule left so please get in touch soon if you’d like to get out this season!
